Cartooning

The children had a fabulous time cartooning with Stu Duval. Mrs Meredith did a great job on the classroom whiteboard!

Move-a-thon prize giving

Room 5 did really well at Move-a-thon prize giving.
Victor came 2nd out of the whole school for raising the 2nd largest amount of money out of nearly 600 children,  great job Victor. He won a camera.

After that the prizes were divided into the top 3 fund raisers in each of the Y1, Y2, Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6 year groups.

Campbell got 1st prize for raising the most money out of all the Y1 children and won a scooter.

Zane came second out of all the Y2 children and won a day pass to Rainbows End for himself and a grown up.

Faith came 3rd out of all the Y2 children and won a Waiwera family pass.

Liam won the Room 5 class ambassador prize for being the most enthusiastic class member throughout the week, taking part in all the move-a-thon activities, as voted for by me.

Vicky and Alicia both won spot prizes. Anyone who returned any sponsor money went into the draw with a chance to win a prize.  Vicky won a netball and Alicia won a tree adventures pass.

Well done Room 5, an awesome effort and awesome prizes. Very proud of you all.

Digital books

The children were so excited to see and hear their information reports. Ask your child to log onto their knowledge net page and share it with you. A BIG thank you for Mrs Bibbie for all her technical support and putting it all together for us  - I could not have done this without you. The information reports are also in book form, again thanks to Mrs Bibbie. You are welcome to pop into class and to see the  digital book on a class computer.

Balancing act!

As part of our Maths strand work on measurement, the children used the balance scales. They had to discover what balances with 3 glue sticks and 10 multilink cubes.

Place value treasure hunt.

Today the children had a place value treasure hunt to find out how many tens and how many units in a number.

Super star athlete.

Room 5 got to meet a commonwealth games athlete and see his silver medal. Local athlete, Adrian Leat, who won a silver medal for judo popped into our class and had a chat with the children. They also got to pose for a photo with him and see his medal up close. Very cool.

Plays

The children performed their plays to our buddy class, Room 20 today. The feedback from their buddies was they had clear voices and used expression. The mission for next time is to act more, add in some actions rather than standing in a line. They did a great job considering that for
most children it was the first time they had performed a play. Well done Room 5!

Netbooks

The children used the net books to write acrostic poems about Rubbish.
